Welcome to the redesigned Breaking Defense! The web pages you see are part of an exciting set of developments at Breaking Defense, the culmination of a year’s work and a launch point for growth.

A lot has happened in defense and in media since 2013, the last time Breaking Defense had a significant refresh. We’re in an era where new threats, new technologies and new warfare domains are reshaping the national security environment.

In keeping with these seminal changes, Breaking Defense is increasing coverage of the defense networks and cyber sector. We’re adding a new channel, Defense Networks and Cyber, augmenting our industry-leading coverage of artificial intelligence with more coverage of cybersecurity, defense IT innovation, data analytics, command, control and communications, GEOINT, robotics, autonomy and AI.

You’ll notice a contemporary and vibrant new design for the site, befitting the dynamism and vitality of the coverage of Breaking Defense. The site is more user friendly, with more reader reference and content recommendations on important topics. We are launching new features, such as the Breaking Defense E-Brief, our Multimedia Report and the Breaking Defense Interview, which you’ll be seeing soon. You’ll see more video content, podcasts, webcasts and other new forms of journalism, all with the quality and integrity that you expect from Breaking Defense.

Our newsletters have also been redesigned, offering a suite of distinct offerings on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. For example, we hope you’ll sign up for our Breaking News Report newsletter, which offers analysis of the latest news with the deep expertise for which Breaking Defense is known.

We’d also like to recognize new staff who have joined Colin Clark, Sydney Freedberg and Paul McLeary in this growth initiative in 2019. Theresa Hitchens is our new aviation and space writer, and Barry Rosenberg has joined us as a contributing editor on cyber and networks. David Smith has come on board as managing director, and Melissa Rettig is our new account director. We’ve opened up a new dedicated office on G Street in Washington, DC, a block away from the White House. All of this exemplifies the focus, creativity and energy that Breaking Media, our parent company based out of New York City, is investing in the defense sector and the growth of Breaking Defense.

So, you can see that this new design isn’t simply just a tweak or a business-as-usual modification, but a new framework for Breaking Defense. One that signals commitment to the defense sector and embraces the dynamism and growth of the defense market.

We hope you enjoy the new site, and we deeply value and appreciate your engagement and loyal readership.
